The cReAtiVe Homeschool Room

I went and did a thing. I started a private community for homeschooled parents to connect and learn creative ways to engage their children through theater arts/ drama/ Acting and the related. Some of you may know that I am a professionally trained actor and it is truly my passion. Recently I was part of a Homeschool Summit where I shared my homeschool journey and the impact acting and theater arts have on my homeschooling philosophy and practice. I didn’t realize how influential theater arts had been until I began to prepare for the Summit. Prior to that, I kept the 2 worlds separate in my mind and in isolation from the spaces I cultivated for homeschooling.

It’s natural to imagine the ways a continuing education in theater arts/ acting will benefit the preparing and in-service teachers in public/private schools, but I was hard-pressed to see how it could impact the homeschool community, even though I was living proof of it.

Preparing for the Summit helped me to identify the connections the arts have to meaningful learning in a homeschool environment. I am seeing how homeschooling parents can be more intentional when approaching the arts. From original curriculum creation to physical games designed to engage learners’ minds, bodies, and hearts, the arts, particularly theater arts have a lot to offer the homeschool world.

Why not add theater arts to the rich quality education of the homeschooler?

Join me and other creative families in The Home Educator's Hub, formerly The Homeschool Room, where I will be sharing my heart for acting and homeschooling through fun family writing workshops, unique acting/history courses, and Curriculum creation mentoring. Who knew I’d end up here? Oh, the places you’ll go when you follow your passions. I hope you’ll meet me. It promises to be an enriching experience.
